Deepest Sword is a browser-based 2D puzzle platformer that focuses on precise movement and unconventional traversal using an extendable sword. The player controls a lone knight who descends deeper into a vertical cavern by lengthening and rotating a massive blade. Instead of traditional combat, the sword acts as a physical tool that pushes, lifts, and anchors the character against walls and platforms. Each descent introduces tighter spaces and more demanding positioning, forcing the player to think carefully about sword length and angle. Progress depends on controlled jumps, deliberate adjustments, and learning how momentum affects movement. Mistakes often send the character back upward, creating a constant balance between risk and precision. The simple visual style keeps attention on timing and spatial awareness, while repeated attempts encourage mastery through experimentation and gradual improvement.
The objective is to guide the knight as deep underground as possible by using the sword to navigate obstacles and vertical drops. Success depends on reaching lower depths without becoming stuck or losing control of movement. Progress measures itself by how far the player descends rather than by defeating enemies or collecting items.
The game uses a single continuous mode without separate levels. The player progresses through an uninterrupted vertical environment that becomes more restrictive and challenging over time. Difficulty increases naturally as the available space tightens and demands more precise control.

A session begins with the knight positioned near the top of the cavern, holding a short sword. The player moves left and right, jumps between surfaces, and uses the mouse or touch input to aim and extend the sword. Extending the blade allows the character to push against walls, brace for drops, or lever themselves downward. The player repeatedly adjusts sword length and body position to descend safely. Failure occurs when poor positioning causes the character to slip upward or become wedged in a way that prevents further progress. There is no forced time limit, so each attempt rewards careful planning and controlled execution. Progress continues as long as the player maintains downward movement and adapts to increasingly narrow spaces.
